Nissan GT-R

With its 6-speed semi-automatic dual clutch the Nissan GT-R has no problems transferring its power to the tarmac. Its steering is direct and the nose eats in to corners with relish. 0 – 60 mph is achieved in just 3.2 seconds and if you are brave enough to keep your foot flat to the floor on the straights the GT-R will eventually top out at a staggering 196 mph.If you value your driving licence the only safe way to experience the Nissan GT-R is on a race track. Ferrari F430

With a new 4.3 litre V8 engine, the Ferrari F430 produces a whopping 483 brake horsepower, that converts to a nought to sixty time of just four seconds and if you keep your foot to the floor and go through the new 6-speed ‘F1′ electrohydraulic manual gearbox, the revometer will climb to the 8,600 rpm redline and you will quite quickly reach a staggering 196 mph. However, what is the use of all that power if you can’t transfer it to the track? Don’t worry, the F430 has a heavily modified version of the 360 Modena chassis, stiffer to cope with the horsepower increase and with a new tricky diff to make sure all that extra power transfers smoothly to the tarmac. Many thought the 360 Modena couldn’t get any better, well it certainly has in the form of the F430.

Lamborghini LP560-4

With an increase in brake horsepower from 500 to 552, the LP560-4 needed aerodynamic alterations to tame this raging bull and although the stability has been increased by thirty percent with a brand new rear diffuser it still feels like a Lamborghini through and through, a supercar that has the ability to deliver shock and awe in equal proportions.Powered by a 5.2 litre V10 with a totally new firing order, the Lamborghini LP560-4 loves the track and this is realistically the only place to get the most from this Italian brute. Nought to sixty miles per hour is reached in a little under 3.7 seconds and if the straights are long enough the LP560-4 eventually tops out at a staggering 202 mph. Stunning to look at and equally as stunning to drive.

The Experience

The Junior Four Supercar driving experience at Three Sisters race track gives young drivers aged 11 – 16 years old the chance to drive four supercars from a choice of seven in The Racing School fleet, these cars include the the Nissan GT-R, the Audi R8, and the the Aston Martin V8 Vantage to name just a few of them and what’s really in a different class, they get to drive each one for 6 exhilarating miles on the “Jewel of the North!”, the Three Sisters Race Circuit.

Upon arrival at Three Sisters junior drivers will be taken through a quick registration procedure, with that completed one of our qualified ARDS instructors carries out a technical and safety briefing, during this classroom session the instructor will explain what’s expected of the drivers once out on the track and any technical or safety issues that may occur, the young drivers can also ask any questions they may have about the forthcoming experience or any of the supercars they’re going to drive.

With the briefing over, the instructor takes the junior drivers over to the pit lane where he takes them out onto the circuit and drives some demonstration laps, these laps give the young drivers a chance to familiarise themselves with the layout of the track and also allows the instructor to show the youngsters the racing lines, car positioning and the braking points. With these demonstration laps in the bag, the instructor will now ride shotgun as the junior driver gets to put into practice all that they’ve absorbed with six miles in their first choice of supercar.

As soon as the first supercar has been completed, it’s back to the pit lane where they jump behind the wheel for their second six mile drive. This procedure will then be mirrored for the third and fourth supercar drive. Once all the drives have been completed one thing is guaranteed, they’ll never be content playing a game looking at a screen, they’ll want to be out on the track looking through the windscreen of the real thing.
